
On Monday, Registrar General and Census Commissioner of the Government of India, Mritunjay Kumar Narayan, reviewed preparations for the upcoming 2027 Census during his exclusive visit to the Directorate of Census Operations in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, located in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. Akashvani Jammu correspondent reports that the visit focused on the preparation and readiness of the Directorate for conducting the processes and training workshops in Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh to ensure the smooth conduct of the 2027 Indian Census. Director of Census Operations, J&K and Ladakh, Amit Sharma, briefed the Registrar General and Census Commissioner on the working and functioning of the office. Mritunjay Kumar interacted with senior officials and staff of the Directorate and inquired about their roles and functions. He emphasized the importance of conducting the Census process with utmost focus, vigilance, and diligence, with meticulous planning and robust mechanisms in place. He also highlighted the importance of training field officials who will visit each district during the 2027 Census. Discussions were held on the workshops for raising awareness and promoting the Census to connect the general public with this national exercise, which serves as the basis for various development and social planning initiatives at the national level. Earlier, the Registrar General and Census Commissioner inaugurated the Census e-library, medical room, and canteen facility for the welfare of Census employees. It is worth mentioning that over 30,000 enumerators and supervisors will be deployed to cover 6,462 villages and 78 towns in two phases.
