New Delhi, March 9 The Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, chaired by Satya Sharma, suggested a uniform policy for regularizing employees working on a contractual basis due to compassionate reasons, according to an official statement.
Sharma also requested departments to compile details of such staff, including their date of appointment, designation, length of service, and current status.
Departments were also asked to provide details of the total number of sanctioned posts and the vacancies available, particularly in positions where compassionate appointments might be possible, the statement read.
Sharma suggested formulating a uniform and integrated policy for regularisation across all departments of the civic body, similar to the Department of Environmental Management Services, to ensure transparency and equal treatment for employees, the statement added.
Sharma stated that a large number of MCD employees retire every month, leading to numerous vacant positions.
Meanwhile, new recruitment has not kept pace with the requirements, affecting the functioning of the civic body, she added.
"Compassionate grounds" refers to employment given to a person due to extreme personal hardship, such as the death or serious illness of a family member.
