Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed his grief at the passing of Colonel Sonam Wangchuk (Retired), a recipient of the Maha Vir Chakra and a hero of the 1999 Kargil War. Paying tribute to Colonel Wangchuk, Mr. Singh recalled his courageous actions during Operation Vijay. Mr. Singh stated that Colonel Wangchuk's life is a testament to courage, sacrifice, and national unity. He added that Colonel Wangchuk's legacy will continue to inspire future generations. The Defence Minister also noted that Colonel Wangchuk exemplified the spirit of a resilient and steadfast region, deeply rooted in service to the nation. Mr. Singh emphasized that Colonel Wangchuk stands as a symbol of the country's unity in diversity.
