
New Delhi, April 5 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid tributes to former Deputy Prime Minister and prominent Dalit leader Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary, stating that his invaluable contribution to the nation would always be remembered.
"I pay my humble tributes to former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary. He dedicated his life to the cause of equality and social justice," Modi said.
"His invaluable contribution to the nation will always be remembered," the prime minister said.
Ram, hailing from Bihar, was recognized for his administrative skills and his role as the Union Defence Minister during the 1971 war against Pakistan.
He had left the Congress in protest against the Emergency.
