Remote Roots, Rising Aspirations: NCC Camp in Mizoram

Remote Roots, Rising Aspirations: NCC Camp in Mizoram.webp

Lunglei, April 10, 2026: The Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-56), conducted by 2 Mizo Bn NCC, Lunglei at 2nd MAP, Luangmual from April 6 to 15, 2026, is progressing with remarkable enthusiasm and a deeper mission of shaping young lives. More than just a routine training program, the camp serves as a transformative platform for youth from remote and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, offering exposure, building confidence, and instilling a strong sense of national pride.

With a total strength of 241 cadets—including encouraging participation from nearly 50% girls—CATC-56 stands as a true reflection of inclusivity and grassroots empowerment. Many cadets have travelled from far-flung rural areas, overcoming significant challenges to be part of this life-changing experience, demonstrating that determination knows no boundaries.

The camp gained momentum with a motivating inaugural address by the Camp Commandant, Colonel Sagar K. Mohanty, on April 7, 2026. This was followed by an insightful guest lecture on "Modes of Entry into the Indian Army" delivered by Lt Col. Sahibjit Singh, Officiating Commanding Officer, 23 Assam Rifles. These sessions have sparked new aspirations among cadets, many of whom are now inspired to dream beyond their circumstances.

Importantly, this phase of training is also being utilized as an intensive preparation period for upcoming events such as the NCC Grand Fest and the Parasailing Camp. Cadets are being groomed physically, mentally, and socially to represent their region with confidence on larger platforms.

The camp continues with a well-structured schedule comprising drill, map reading, weapon training, games, and cultural activities. It also features a series of informative guest lectures on topics such as Media Awareness & Cyber Security, POCSO Awareness, Firefighting & Disaster Management, and Excise & Narcotics Awareness.

A notable highlight is the session on Media Awareness & Cyber Security delivered by Pu C. Lalhruaitluanga, a distinguished NCC alumnus and currently Deputy Director of Information & Public Relations (I&PR), Lunglei District. His journey from cadet to a key government position serves as a powerful source of inspiration for the participants.

CATC-56 is steadily emerging as a beacon of hope for rural youth—transforming limitations into opportunities and aspirations into determination. It sends a strong message that with the right guidance and platforms like NCC, even those from the most remote corners can rise, lead, and serve the nation with pride.

With each passing day, the camp is doing more than training cadets—it is nurturing confidence, character, and a brighter future for the youth of the region.
