Rescue Efforts Underway for Person Missing in Una's Gobind Sagar.webp

Una (HP), April 4 A man from Punjab is feared to have drowned in the deep waters of Gobind Sagar Lake in the Una district of Himachal Pradesh, police said on Saturday.

According to police, 24-year-old Akashdeep, a resident of Tarn Taran in Punjab, was on his way to the Baba Balaknath Temple in Deotsidh when he stopped to wash his hands and feet in Gobind Sagar Lake on Friday evening. He lost his balance and fell into the water.

People present at the scene attempted to save him, but due to the depth of the lake, Akashdeep could not be located, and efforts are still underway to find him, police said.

Subsequently, Bangana Station House Officer Rohit Chaudhary arrived at the scene with a police team and launched a rescue operation with the assistance of locals.

However, there was no trace of Akashdeep, and the police suspended the rescue operation on Friday night as darkness fell.

On Saturday, divers from the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) in Nangal, Punjab, resumed the search and rescue operation, police said, adding that Akashdeep had not yet been located.
