Rescue Operation Successful in Ranchi for Elephant.webp

Ranchi, April 2 A sub-adult elephant, which fell into a 45-foot-deep well in the Ranchi district of Jharkhand, was rescued after a three-hour operation on Thursday, a forest department official said.

The elephant, which was part of a herd of four, fell into the well around 1 am at the Saryad village in the Bundu forest range, he said.

"We were informed about the incident around 5 am. A rescue team was immediately rushed to the area. However, the rescue operation began at 8 am due to some objections raised by the well owner," Supriyan Tuti, the in-charge of Sonahatu forest, told
