
Jhansi (UP), April 6 Two teenagers are feared to have drowned while two others were rescued after a boat capsized in a dam in the Raksa area of Jhansi district, police said on Monday.
The incident took place on Sunday evening when four friends went for a picnic to the Gariya dam. They boarded an unattended boat and ventured into the deep waters, where it lost balance and capsized, throwing all of them into the dam.
Hearing their cries, a fisherman, identified as Kallu Kevat, rushed to the spot in his boat and managed to rescue two of the youths, officials said.
Police from nearby stations reached the spot and conducted a search operation with the help of local divers late into the night, but were unable to locate the missing teenagers.
Station House Officer, Raksa, Rupesh Kumar said a State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) team has been called to join the rescue operation. Further search efforts are underway, he added.
The rescued individuals have been identified as Shravan Tiwari (19) and Shaurya (18), while Vedansh Yadav (18) and Atif Mansoori (19) are still missing.
