New Delhi, March 24 The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Tuesday demanded that the Narendra Modi government condemn the US-Israel attack on Iran and Palestine, and take steps to safeguard Indians living in the Gulf and West Asia.
Passing a resolution at a 'Jan Aakrosh Rally' held at the Ramlila Maidan here, the CPI(M) alleged that under the BJP, India has become a "subordinate ally" of the US.
The party said the conflict has adversely impacted people in India, alleging that the Centre failed to assess the situation and take necessary steps, leading to a shortage of LPG cylinders and a rise in fuel prices.
The CPI(M) claimed that the increase in gas and petrol prices has further triggered a rise in the cost of essential commodities such as vegetables and rice, adding to the burden on people.
"The US-Israel attack on Iran killed thousands of people, including the leaders of the government. The most inhuman nature of their aggression is seen in the attack on a school, which led to the death of more than 160 girl students and their teachers," the resolution said.
It also accused Israel and the US of carrying out a "genocidal attack" on Gaza.
"Before attacking Iran, Israel and the US carried out (a) genocidal attack on Gaza. The US attacked and kidnapped the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, and the First Lady.
"It had bombed an Iranian ship which participated in an event organised by the Indian Navy. The US has intensified the economic blockade on Cuba and is now threatening that it will dismantle the socialist system in Cuba," the resolution said.
Instead of condemning these attacks, the Modi government stood with the US and Israel, the resolution charged, adding, "Under the BJP, India has become a subordinate ally of the US."
The CPI(M) further demanded that the government take urgent measures to curb price rise, reduce the cost of LPG cylinders and ensure their availability to all those in need.
