Restrictions on 10+ Year Old Commercial Vehicles in Odisha.webp

Bhubaneswar, April 6 The Odisha government has imposed restrictions on the transfer of ownership of commercial public transport vehicles, such as buses and taxis, that are more than 10 years old and registered in any other state, officials said on Monday.

The State Transport Authority (STA) took this decision with the safety, comfort, and convenience of the travelling public in mind, according to an order.

"Stage/contract carriers registered in other states, which are more than 10 years old from the month and year of manufacture, shall not be granted any permit in the state of Odisha," read the order issued by the STA.

The government has asked all regional transport officers (RTOs) to stop making any changes to the address, transferring ownership, or accepting taxes from such vehicles, it said.

With the implementation of the order, no commercial vehicle, including buses, taxis, and cabs, that are older than 10 years and registered outside Odisha, will be allowed to register in the state, a senior STA officer told
