It is a source of immense pride for the entire state that two companies from the Ri Bhoi District have received prestigious awards in New Delhi. The award recipients include BASUBA Broom Company Ltd, based in Khliehumstem, Ri Bhoi District, which produces and markets processed broom grass (synsar), and ERI WEAVE Private Ltd, a company owned by Kong Iaishah Rymbai of Kdonghulu village, Ri Bhoi District, which manufactures and markets eri yarn and eri fabrics in various designs.
The two companies received the awards on February 26, 2026, at a meeting held at the Ashok Hotel in Delhi. The awards were presented during the 9th Business Membership Organisation (BMO) MSME event, organized by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India.
The MSME Ministry, through its clusters across various states in India, conducted a thorough evaluation of companies based on their production activities, marketing performance, and overall contributions before selecting outstanding enterprises from different states to receive the awards.
Speaking at the event, Bah Pynshai Masharing and Kong Iaishah Rymbai, who received the awards on behalf of their respective companies, expressed immense joy and gratitude. They stated that they had never imagined achieving such a significant honour, which they described as a source of pride for their village, district, state, and the country as a whole.
They further remarked that the award serves as a strong motivation for companies operating from rural areas, especially those striving to market products manufactured locally.
The awards were presented by Manoj Tiwari, Member of Parliament from Delhi. The event was also attended by Shri Mukesh Gulati, Executive Director of the Foundation for MSME Clusters, and Nila Madhab Panda, a Padma Shri awardee and recipient of the National Award for his contributions to filmmaking.
