Rijiju Praises Excise Duty Reduction for Citizens.webp

March 27, New Delhi: India's Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a decision aimed at reducing the financial burden on citizens. Emphasizing the government's focus on public welfare, Rijiju stated that the move reflects the Prime Minister's continued understanding of the everyday challenges faced by households across the country, while also assuring that the situation is being closely monitored and there is no need to panic.

He said, "First of all, on behalf of the entire public, I would like to thank the Prime Minister. At a time of such crisis, when there is a conflict in a region from which we import gas and petroleum products, taking such a major step is not an ordinary decision. Everyone needs gas, petrol, and diesel in everyday life. Therefore, to ensure that prices do not rise and remain under control, such a significant decision has been taken. The excise duty on petrol has been kept at just 3 percent, which is extremely low—something you can hardly even imagine. And for diesel, it has been set at 0 percent."

Rijiju further stated, "The Prime Minister has very clearly stated that there is no need to panic. He has issued a warning to hoarders and appealed to state governments to ensure that there is no hoarding and no panic is created. The Government of India has the situation fully under control, and to ensure that common people do not face any difficulties, the Prime Minister himself is monitoring everything closely from the top level to the bottom level."
