Rishikesh, April 5 The Rishikesh Police have arrested a man on charges of repeatedly raping a woman over several years, and are searching for a father-son duo who employed her husband and were also involved in the sexual assaults, an officer said on Sunday.
Kailash Chand Bhatt, the Inspector-in-Charge of the Rishikesh Kotwali Police Station, said they arrested Kushagra Sharma (alias Romy) based on a complaint filed by the 40-year-old victim on April 2.
The other two accused in the case, Manjit Johar and his son, Manav Johar, are still at large, Bhatt said.
Sharma, who is associated with the Johars, was arrested from the Mansa Devi area of Rishikesh on Saturday evening, he said.
According to the police, the father-son duo is involved in the real estate business, with hotels in Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Mussoorie.
In her written complaint to the police, the victim alleged that since 2021, the accused had allegedly raped her on numerous occasions, not only at her in-laws' residence but also at various other locations.
She alleged that when she refused to comply with them, they threatened to harm her father and sisters, and kill her only daughter.
She said her husband works with Johar, and when she told her husband about the rape incidents, he simply ignored her, the inspector said.
The woman said that when her suffering became unbearable, she confided in her sister, who advised her to file a complaint with the police.
