Road Accident in Srinagar Leaves Seven CRPF Personnel Injured.webp

Srinagar, February 21 – Seven personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were injured in a road accident on Saturday in Srinagar district, Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials said that the seven CRPF personnel were injured in the Dagpora area of the Srinagar district in a road accident.

"The accident occurred in Dagpora, in the Ahmad Nagar area, when a CRPF armoured vehicle went out of control and veered off the road, falling into a water canal. The injured have been taken to SKIMS for treatment," officials added.

Doctors attending to the injured personnel said that they were in stable condition.

"The injured have been identified as Naginder Singh (36), Ajit Kumar Ram (36), Raj Kishore Rai (40), Amit Kumar Yadav (38), Rajdhan Ram (55), Mankar Kumar (40), and Neeraj Kumar (45)," officials said.

Road accidents frequently cause fatalities in Jammu and Kashmir, and are largely attributed to reckless and negligent driving, road rage, overloading, speeding, and motorcycle drivers not wearing helmets.

The Traffic Department has deployed special squads to check these offences, and petrol pumps have been directed not to provide fuel to motorcycle drivers who are not wearing helmets.

The Traffic Department also conducts roadside counselling sessions to educate drivers about traffic rules and the dangers caused by violating them.

RTOs are also advertising strict action against offences such as driving without a driving license or operating a vehicle driven by a minor, and those engaging in stunts on the road.

One provision of the law is the cancellation of vehicle registration and imprisonment for parents if a vehicle is found to be operated by a minor.

The practice of motorcycle drivers performing stunts on the road has spread to many areas in the Valley, although initially, only a few cases were reported from the Srinagar district.

Even a young woman has been caught performing stunts on her motorcycle in southern Kashmir districts.
