New Delhi, March 24 The Delhi government allocated ₹5,921 crore for road infrastructure development in the 2026-27 budget, compared to ₹3,843 crore for the current fiscal year.
"Our goal is to have seamless connectivity, climate-resilient corridors, and technologically secure roads," Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said while presenting the 2026-27 budget.
The allocation for this sector aims to re-pave PWD roads to reduce congestion and pollution, develop new integrated corridors, and complete pending projects.
"Out of the 1,400 km of roads under the PWD, 400 km were redeveloped in 2025-26. For 2026-27, I propose an allocation of ₹1,392 crore for the complete re-paving and redevelopment of 750 km of roads," Gupta said in her speech.
Furthermore, in its effort to achieve "flawless connectivity", the Delhi government has approved eight different integrated road corridors across Delhi, with a total cost of ₹2,000 crore.
"An allocation of ₹575 crore for 2026-27 to complete the integrated corridor projects, which have a total estimated cost of over ₹2,000 crore. These roads will help reduce congestion and pollution on Delhi's roads and provide relief from traffic jams," Gupta said in her speech.
The Delhi government also worked on obtaining approvals for the pending permissions in the Barapullah Phase-3 project, she added.
The Barapullah Corridor project was started in 2016 but had remained stalled due to corruption and red tape under the Aam Aadmi Party. "Our government will complete it by June 2026. An allocation of ₹210 crore has been made in this year's budget to complete this work," Gupta said.
Two major road connectivity projects in South Delhi – the extension of the Modi Mill flyover up to the Kalkaji Temple and the construction of a new flyover at the Savitri Cinema junction – have been approved. ₹150 crore has been allocated for these projects in the budget for the next fiscal year. ₹25 crore has also been allocated in this year's budget for the construction of foot-over-bridges.
As part of promoting green mobility, the Delhi government plans to construct a cycle track along the periphery of the Yamuna River, she added.
