Gurugram, March 25 Two female workers, one of whom was pregnant, sustained serious injuries on Wednesday after the roof of an old house collapsed during demolition in the Roshanpura area near Sadar Bazar, police said.
Both were trapped under the debris, and after being rescued, they were rushed to the hospital, where doctors described their condition as critical, they added.
According to the police, the demolition work was being carried out by the building owner on a dilapidated house in the Roshanpura area. The two women workers were sitting on the roof of the house, eating lunch, they said.
Suddenly, the entire roof collapsed, trapping the two women under the debris, police said.
After hearing the sound of the roof collapsing, young men working nearby on a Wi-Fi installation and neighbors rushed to the scene and started a rescue operation, said police.
After receiving information, a team from the city police station reached the scene and admitted the injured to a nearby hospital, where doctors described their condition as critical.
