New Delhi, March 24 The Delhi government has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, to conduct a study of its route rationalization program, aimed at improving the efficiency and service of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses, officials said on Tuesday.
Last year, the transport department launched a route rationalization program to optimize the use of the existing bus fleet and expand coverage across the capital, in view of the phasing out of several 15-year-old low-floor CNG buses.
"An IIT Delhi will conduct a route rationalization study for the Delhi bus network with leading partners. The 12-month study, starting in March 2026 and ending in February 2027, will focus on improving efficiency, accessibility, and service quality," an official from the transport department said.
With the route rationalization exercise, the government plans to enhance last-mile connectivity and metro integration, aiming to create a commuter-friendly transport system, the official added.
