February 19, New Delhi – Britain's former Prince Andrew was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of misconduct while serving as a trade envoy, as UK police investigations into allegations emerging from the Jeffrey Epstein files intensified.
The former prince, the second son of the late Queen Elizabeth, has always denied any wrongdoing related to Epstein, and has expressed regret over their friendship. However, he has not responded to requests for comment since the latest release of documents.
The arrest of a member of the royal family is unprecedented in modern Britain, as police said they were also searching two properties in eastern England and west of London as part of their investigation.
Meanwhile, Britain's King Charles issued a statement expressing his deepest concern over the arrest of his younger brother, former Prince Andrew, adding that the law must take its course.
