New Delhi, February 19 Billionaire Mukesh Ambani announced on Thursday that his group will invest Rs 10 lakh crore as he promised to revolutionize artificial intelligence, as he did with mobile data.
Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit here, Ambani said that the best of AI is yet to come, and that AI can usher in an era of super abundance.
The world, he said, stands at a crossroads regarding AI, with one path leading to scarce, expensive AI and controlled data, while the other ensures affordable and accessible AI.
"Jio, in partnership with Reliance, will invest Rs 10 lakh crore over the next 7 years, starting this year," he said. "This is not speculative investment. It is not for chasing valuations. It is patient, disciplined capital for nation-building."
The biggest constraint in AI, he said, is not the scarcity of talent, but the high cost of computing. "Jio Intelligence will build India's sovereign computing infrastructure."
This includes data centers on a gigawatt scale.
Jio connected India to the internet era, and now it will connect it to the era of intelligence. "We will deliver intelligence to every citizen, every sector of the economy, and every aspect of social development. Jio will do so with the same reliability, scale, and extreme affordability that transformed connectivity."
