
March 06, New Delhi: The newly formed Rastriya Swatantra Party, led by former rapper Balendra Shah, is leading in the early vote counting in Nepal's first general elections since the violent mass protests.
The RSP is ahead in 40 of the 57 constituencies. Former Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli's Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) is leading in five seats, while the Nepali Congress, led by Gagan Thapa, is in third place with leads in four seats.
The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre), led by former premier Pushpa Kamal Dahal, is leading in two seats, while the pro-monarchist Rastriya Prajatantra Party is ahead in one seat.
