
Kathmandu, April 10 Ruby Kumari Thakur of the Shram Sanskriti Party was elected as the Deputy Speaker of Nepal's House of Representatives on Friday, with the support of the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
During the voting in the Lower House, the majority of the lawmakers endorsed a proposal to elect Thakur, 25, as Deputy Speaker.
Speaker Prasad Aryal, who was elected to the post last week representing the RSP, announced her victory.
Earlier, a separate proposal to elect Saraswati Lama of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party as Deputy Speaker was rejected by a majority of the lawmakers.
