February 19, New Delhi: Russia stated on Thursday that it is observing an unprecedented escalation of tensions surrounding Iran, following the deployment of US military assets in the Middle East.
The Kremlin urged both Tehran and "other parties" to exercise caution and restraint. Russia maintains a strategic partnership treaty with Iran, although it does not include a mutual defense clause.
Meanwhile, Iran and Russia are conducting joint naval exercises in the Sea of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean.
