
New Delhi, March 17 The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has intensified its efforts to empower its female employees through "Sahas," a structured self-defense training initiative conducted in collaboration with the Delhi Police, an official said.
Implemented in two phases, the program concluded on Tuesday with a concluding ceremony where participants demonstrated their newly acquired skills.
In the first phase, 1,100 female employees were nominated for a basic self-defense workshop conducted in association with the Delhi Police last year. The sessions, held at Metro Bhavan in four batches, were conducted by Inspector Kiran Sethi, popularly known as "Lady Singham," according to the DMRC, which posted on X.
The second phase comprised an advanced five-day training program, which was conducted in collaboration with the Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC) of the Delhi Police, the DMRC said.
"The first batch of 100 female employees was trained as part of this initiative. It was inaugurated on March 11, 2026, by Lakshmi Dubey, ACP of Delhi Police SPUW&C and Delhi Metro's General Manager HR, Jai Shree Sharma," the DMRC said.
Tuesday's concluding function was attended by Shalini Singh, President of Delhi Metro Ladies Welfare Organisation, along with Dubey and her team.
A DMRC official said that the 100 employees who were trained in the second phase received certificates from the Delhi Police at the function, which was organized at the DMRC Academy.
