Minister Sakina Itoo met workers in D.H. Pora to review development issues and said no order has been issued on implementing TET in J&K.

Feb 25, Srinagar: Minister for Health, Education, Higher Education and Social Welfare Sakina Itoo on Wednesday chaired an extensive meeting with party workers and local representatives at D.H. Pora to review developmental concerns and address public issues.

Workers and representatives from various constituencies of the area participated in the meeting. Issues related to healthcare services, educational infrastructure, social welfare schemes, road connectivity and other basic amenities were discussed in detail.

The minister listened to grievances raised during the interaction and assured that the government is committed to resolving genuine public issues in a time-bound manner. She said the administration is working to strengthen public services and accelerate developmental works across sectors.

Speaking on the occasion, Itoo said the government is striving for the welfare and upliftment of the people. She urged workers to remain patient and continue their grassroots efforts, assuring that genuine concerns would be addressed with seriousness.

She also stressed the need for coordination between the administration and the public to ensure effective implementation of welfare schemes and developmental projects in the region.

The meeting concluded with an assurance of sustained engagement and proactive steps to resolve issues faced by residents of D.H. Pora and adjoining areas.

Separately, the minister clarified the government’s position on the Teacher Eligibility Test, saying no order has been issued by the government or any competent authority regarding its implementation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing concerns, she said it is not the appropriate time to introduce the test in the Union Territory. The government, she added, will examine whether the policy is being implemented uniformly across the country before taking any decision.

She said implementation of TET is not mandatory in the Union Territory at present and that the government will take an appropriate decision after a thorough review.

Referring to developments in other states and Union Territories, Itoo said that if any region approaches the Supreme Court to safeguard teachers’ interests, the Jammu and Kashmir government would consider a similar course of action if required.

Reiterating the government’s stand, she said no official order has been issued on TET implementation, dispelling speculation on the issue.
