Samalkha Assembly: RSS Body Focuses on Centenary Celebrations and Regional Initiatives.webp

Chandigarh, March 13 – A key three-day meeting of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's top decision-making body began in Haryana's Samalkha on Friday, during which discussions will focus on the RSS's activities over the past year and plans for the future.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale inaugurated the meeting.

BJP chief Nitin Nabin and presidents and other senior functionaries of its 32 sister organizations will also attend the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS).

For the RSS, the ABPS is the apex decision-making body of the Sangh.

Regarding the Naxal-affected regions, the Sangh noted that the situation is gradually returning to normalcy due to the government's efforts, while the situation in Manipur has also stabilized.

Regarding Bangladesh, the Sangh urged the government there to take whatever steps are necessary to protect the rights and interests of Hindus.

This year marks the centenary of the Sangh, and the meeting will include detailed discussions on major programs and campaigns organized as part of the celebrations. These include Grihasampark (mass contact program), Hindu Sammelan, youth conferences, gatherings of prominent citizens, and meetings promoting social harmony.

RSS Joint General Secretary C R Mukund, who addressed a press conference in Samalkha, Panipat, along with Sunil Ambekar, RSS's Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh, said that this year marks the Sangh's centenary.

During this centenary year, special emphasis is being placed on expanding 'Shakhas' and public outreach campaigns. In Kerala, over 55,000 Muslim and 54,000 Christian homes were reached through this initiative.

He talked about the 'panch parivartan' initiative of the RSS, which focuses on social harmony, preserving family values, environmental protection, self-reliance, and adherence to legal, civic, and constitutional duties.

He also mentioned the positive impact of "Sabbhav Ghosti" and "Pramukh Nagrik Ghostis" on society.

The RSS has reached over 10 crore homes through "Grihasampark," and more than 3 lakh villages have been covered.

In Kerala, they reached out to several households, including Muslims, Christians, and individuals with communist leanings.

We have received a warm welcome wherever we have gone," he said. "Our Swayamsevaks have reached 55,000 Muslim and 54,000 Christian homes."

The Sangh has also reached tribal regions through its public outreach initiative.

Hindu Sammelans have been held at over 36,000 locations across the country, and more are planned, including in urban, rural, and remote areas, Mukund said.

Generally, the "Pratinidhi Sabha" meetings discuss the state of affairs in the country, a point also mentioned by Sah-Karyavah in his "prativedan" (report), Mukund said.

Regarding the Naxal-affected regions, the Sangh noted that the situation is gradually returning to normalcy due to government efforts, and the Sangh welcomes this initiative.

Regarding Manipur, Mukund said that political stability is coming, and more importantly, the ongoing effort to bring together individuals from all communities and castes to deliberate collectively is yielding results, in which the Sangh also plays a role.

He said that as we all know, a difficult situation persists in Bangladesh. Therefore, the Sangh urges the government there to take whatever steps are necessary to protect the rights and interests of Hindus.

Regarding the West Asia conflict, he said that the crisis should end soon, which is what we and the Indian society believe.

Meanwhile, Mukund said that the various initiatives spanning the centenary year have two main dimensions – one is organizational expansion, where we are focusing on expanding 'Shakhas,' and the other is our concerted effort to engage with society, foster harmony within it, and mobilize all the virtuous forces of the community to dedicate themselves to social transformation and public awakening.

Our ongoing endeavour involves engaging prominent citizens across various localities to serve as key community leaders," Mukund said.

To foster harmony within society, we are collaborating at the block level with local community leaders, heads of spiritual organizations, and heads of religious centers, he said.

"Together, we aim to deliberate upon and implement positive initiatives that bring about necessary social reforms. Specifically, the Sangh has identified five transformations," he said.

Earlier on Wednesday, Ambekar had said that the three-day meeting will review the activities of the Sangh during 2025-26 and present reports on significant initiatives carried out across various regions.

The meeting is being attended by RSS senior office-bearers, along with members of the national executive body. A total of 1,487 "karyakartas" will participate, including elected representatives and key office-bearers from various parts.

In addition, presidents, general secretaries, and organising secretaries of 32 affiliated organizations will also be present.
