
Samastipur (Bihar), April 3 – A 30-year-old train driver was shot dead by assailants on a motorcycle in Samastipur district, Bihar, on Friday, police said.
The incident occurred around 10 am in the Tajpur police station area, when the person was returning home on his two-wheeler, a senior officer said.
The deceased, Pramod Kapar (30), was a train driver with the railways, he said.
Sadar-1 SDPO Sanjay Kumar Pandey said, "Unidentified assailants shot the train driver dead in the Tajpur police station area. A police team has initiated an investigation. We are questioning locals and examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the armed men. Raids are being conducted."
Pandey said the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
According to locals, Kapar was returning home from work on his motorcycle when the assailants fired at him. He sustained multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot.
