Sankalp Star Roop Durgapal Shares Acting Insights from Industry Veterans.webp

Mumbai, March 9 – Roop Durgapal is making her debut in the web space with Prakash Jha’s Sankalp, which stars Nana Patekar, Sanjay Kapoor, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Kranti Prakash Jha, and Meghna Malik.

The actress said that working alongside such talented individuals was like educating herself about various aspects of acting.

Sharing more about the series and her role, Roop said: “The stellar cast is one of the key reasons that I was excited to join the show. When everyone has a significant body of work, you know there will be a lot of learning on and off set.”

She added: “Being around Nana Patekar and Prakash Jha was like educating myself about various aspects of acting, filmmaking, and even life in general. I also learned a lot from Meghna Malik, and we bonded during lunch and dinner. She is a fantastic actress and a wonderful person.”

Roop plays the character of Madhuri, the wife of Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub's character.

Sharing more about him, Roop said: “Zeeshan is a fantastic co-actor. Coming from NSD and having worked in films and the web space, there was so much to learn from him. His measured approach to scenes, command over language, and his energy were very helpful during our scenes together. I was always looking forward to being on set.”

Roop had been involved in theatre and was preparing for a play when she came to know about the audition for Sankalp. Roop's debut in the OTT space came quite late in her career.

“I think until 2019, I hadn't considered going beyond TV. It was when Covid struck and our lives changed, seeing people pass away, that I realized how short and unpredictable life is. I felt like experimenting and doing things that scared me. Theatre was one of them.”

She added: “The idea of having no cuts, no retakes, and month-long rehearsals was new and daunting to me. But the realization of life's uncertainty gave me the strength to take a chance. I did theatre, and it was an amazingly satisfying experience to be on stage and not fumble. It gave me the courage to explore beyond TV and venture into the web space.”

“I think everything happens in its own time, and everyone's journey is different. Mine was meant to happen this way, and I am very happy with the way it has unfolded organically. The number of years doesn't matter.”
