Sant Kabir Nagar (UP), March 16 Two people were killed and two others were injured when a mini-truck crashed into a car on a highway here on Monday morning, police said.
The accident occurred around 4 am on National Highway 27 near Rasulabad.
According to police, the occupants of the car were returning from a Holi Milan event in Lucknow. When they were near Rasulabad, a mini-truck coming from the Gorakhpur side lost control and veered across the road divider, crashing into the car.
All four sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared two of them dead.
The deceased were identified as Dhananjay Pandey (35) and Shambhu Mishra (45), said Jai Prakash Dubey, Station House Officer of Khalilabad Kotwali police station.
Raman Kumar and Sudesh Mishra, who were injured, are currently being treated in the hospital, he said, adding that all four were residents of Kushinagar district.
The driver of the mini-truck fled the scene after the accident.
