Singapore, February 25 SATS, a company providing airport services, has completed its multi-modal cargo logistics facility at Noida International Airport, in preparation for the inauguration of the mega aviation hub next month, a company official said.
The Singapore-based company has already invested nearly Rs 1,000 crore in building the new cargo facility.
"The next phase, which is expected to involve an additional investment of Rs 600 crore, is to develop the adjacent integrated logistics park, providing seamless end-to-end airfreight services to players in the air cargo industry," said Bob Chi, CEO of SATS Ltd's Gateway Services for the Asia Pacific region, on Tuesday.
He was speaking at the Uttar Pradesh Investment Roadshow held here by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
SATS' investment is aimed at making Noida International Airport a global aviation hub.
The investment is through SATS' 50:50 joint venture with Air India (AI-SATS). SATS has been operating in India since 2008.
Beyond the financial investments, SATS is looking forward to playing an active role in developing the airfreight logistics ecosystem to connect Uttar Pradesh's primary industries with the world through SATS' network of 225 locations in 27 countries.
Chi also highlighted the growth prospects of Uttar Pradesh, driven by the growing agricultural, industrial, and service sectors.
"We hope to transfer the best practices and the best technologies into our investments in more areas where projects are in the pipeline," he said.
The chief minister had earlier visited SATS' airfreight hub facilities at Changi International Airport, experiencing firsthand the operations of the facilities that handled 1.65 million tonnes of air cargo, particularly the handling of perishable and pharmaceutical air cargo using the cold-chain system.
Adityanath led an investment delegation to Singapore on Monday and Tuesday.
