
New Delhi, February 26 Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Vinayak Damodar Savarkar on the anniversary of his death, stating that he dedicated his entire life to liberating the nation from the grip of colonial rule.
Savarkar, a leading proponent of the Hindutva ideology, was born on May 28, 1883, and died on February 26, 1966.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) in Hindi, Modi said, "A respectful tribute to the great revolutionary, Veer Savarkar, on his death anniversary. He dedicated his entire life to liberating the nation from the chains of colonial rule."
"His personality and monumental work will continue to inspire every generation to serve the nation," Modi added.
