
JAMMU, FEBRUARY 25: In a major initiative aimed at preparing young people for the challenges of a rapidly changing world, the State Council of Educational Research and Training, Jammu & Kashmir (SCERT J&K) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bharti Airtel Foundation to develop and implement a comprehensive Life Skills Curriculum across the Union Territory.
This partnership marks a significant step towards strengthening school education by integrating essential life competencies alongside academic learning. The proposed curriculum will focus on fostering critical thinking, effective communication, emotional intelligence, creative problem-solving, and informed decision-making among students.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both institutions, highlighting their shared commitment to transforming education in Jammu & Kashmir. Among the signatories were the Director, SCERT J&K; Dr. Naseem Javed Chowdhary, Joint Director, SCERT J&K; Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor; Chief Operating Officer Binu Nair; Regional Head Anil Bhatt; and Project Head Sourab Sharma from Bharti Airtel Foundation.
Dr. Naseem Javed Chowdhary described the collaboration as a landmark move in redefining educational standards in the region. He emphasized that the integration of a structured life skills framework would not only enhance academic learning but also equip students with the emotional strength and cognitive adaptability required to thrive in a dynamic global environment.
The initiative will follow a multi-dimensional approach, including the co-creation of age-appropriate curriculum modules, comprehensive training programmes for teachers and master trainers, and phased rollout across schools in the Union Territory. The objective is to ensure long-term, measurable improvements in students' overall development.
Binu Nair, COO of Bharti Airtel Foundation, reiterated the Foundation’s dedication to advancing educational innovation. He noted that education is the cornerstone of societal progress and highlighted that the new curriculum aims to nurture a growth mindset among students, preparing them to be academically capable, emotionally balanced, and socially responsible individuals.
Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor expressed appreciation for the collaboration, stating that the MoU reflects a shared vision to empower the youth of Jammu & Kashmir with life skills essential for personal well-being, academic achievement, and career readiness.
