
Kathmandu, March 22 Two teenagers from India were reportedly swept away while swimming in a river in Nepal’s Palpa district on Sunday, according to a media report.
Faran Ansari, 17, and Aman Ansari, both from Sant Kabir Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, went missing while swimming in the Tinau river, according to a report in the government-run daily, Gorkhapatra, quoting sources from the Palpa district police.
The two teenagers were part of a group of seven youths from India who had come to the Tinau river in the Tansen municipality. Two of them were swept away by the river, according to Hom Prakash Chaudhari, an information officer at the district police office.
A search operation was launched, but no one was found by Sunday evening.
The river is popular among swimmers from Nepal and India, and many people come here for recreation. Locals say such accidents are common in the river.
