
Chennai, March 23 The ruling DMK signed a seat-sharing agreement with its ally CPI(M) on Monday, allocating five seats to them to contest in the April 23 Assembly elections as part of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance.
The Marxist party contested six constituencies in alliance with the DMK in the 2021 Assembly election, winning two from Gandarvakottai and Keezhvelur – both reserved constituencies.
DMK president M K Stalin and CPI(M) state secretary P Shanmugam signed the agreement at Anna Arivalayam, the DMK's state headquarters, in the presence of senior leaders from both parties.
