
Rajouri/Jammu, March 10 Army troops foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, killing one terrorist and recovering three weapons, six magazines, and three grenades during an encounter, officials said.
This is the second infiltration attempt foiled by troops along the LoC in Rajouri during the past week.
Acting on intelligence inputs, security forces detected the movement of two terrorists in the general area of Jhangar in the Nowshera sector along the LoC around 3 pm, the Army's White Knight Corps said on X.
The troops responded with swift and calibrated action and engaged the terrorists, foiling the infiltration attempt, it said.
In the ensuing exchange of fire, a Pakistan-sponsored terrorist was eliminated, effectively preventing any breach of the LoC, it added.
Subsequently, a search operation was launched to trace the second terrorist, who is believed to be hiding in the area.
The troops recovered one AK-type rifle, two pistols, two rifle magazines, four pistol magazines, 58 rounds, three hand grenades, one mobile set, two SIM cards, and Pakistani currency.
Security forces have strengthened their operational posture and heightened surveillance across the sector, with integrated ground and aerial monitoring to ensure complete domination of the area, the Army said.
Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma commended the troops of the White Knight Corps for foiling the infiltration bid and neutralizing a Pakistan-sponsored terrorist along the LoC.
"Northern Command stands by its commitment to keep Jammu and Kashmir terror-free," he wrote on X.
Earlier, on March 4, the Army foiled an infiltration attempt by a group of terrorists in the Turkandi forward area along the LoC, officials said.
