Srinagar, April 8 Security forces detected and defused a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) planted by terrorists on a road in Shopian district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday, an Army official said.
He said that a potential tragedy was averted as the IED was "apparently intended to target security forces' vehicles."
The device was found on the Zainapora-Chitargam road in the south Kashmir district early this morning during routine sanitisation operations, the official said.
He said that the object was identified as a powerful IED during examination. A bomb disposal squad was called to the site, and the IED was neutralized.
