Patna, March 13 The Bihar assembly received a bomb threat via email on Friday, officials said.
Speaker Prem Kumar took note of the threat and held a meeting with senior officials of the assembly secretariat, they said.
Kumar instructed officers to inform the Chief Secretary and the DGP about the situation, and to ensure a thorough search of the assembly premises, according to an official statement.
Security has been tightened around the assembly premises following the threat email.
This development comes ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections in the state on March 16, for which voting is scheduled to take place on the assembly premises.
