In Jammu and Kashmir, three terrorists have been killed in a joint security operation in the Kishtwar district today. An Akashvani Jammu correspondent reports that the operation, codenamed "Trashi-I", was launched based on specific intelligence indicating the presence of three Pakistani terrorists in the area. The terrorists, who were hiding inside a mud house on the foothills of a hill, opened fire on approaching troops, leading to a fierce gun battle in the general area of Passerkoot in the Chatroo belt. This prompted joint teams from the Army, J&K Police, and CRPF to launch a search operation. Troops from the 11th National Rifles of the Army, in coordination with the J&K Police and CRPF, launched a search operation in the area. Contact had been established with the terrorists earlier, and security forces re-engaged them around 11 AM in the difficult terrain. During the ensuing encounter, three terrorists were killed. Efforts are underway to identify the terrorists and determine their affiliations. Security forces also recovered two AK-47 rifles and other war-like stores from the site of the encounter. The area has been cordoned off, and search operations are continuing. Further details are awaited. Last month, the Chatroo forest belt witnessed nearly a dozen gunfights between terrorists and security forces, resulting in the death of a soldier and a terrorist.
