Srinagar, March 11 Kashmir Zone IGP V K Birdi reviewed the security situation in the Valley on Wednesday in anticipation of upcoming festivals, including Eid al-Fitr and Navratri, scheduled later this month.
Birdi chaired a security review meeting at the PCR Kashmir to evaluate and finalize security arrangements for the upcoming festivals in Kashmir, a police spokesman said.
The meeting focused on security arrangements, particularly for Shab-e-Qadr, Navratri, Eid al-Fitr and Nauroz, and the discussions centered around safeguarding public security, ensuring law and order, and facilitating the smooth conduct of the events.
With many festivals approaching, which typically see large gatherings at places of worship across the Valley, the IGP issued directions for adequate security measures to prevent overcrowding, ensure public safety, and maintain orderly conduct of events, the spokesman said.
Specific instructions were issued to control entry and exit points, deploy personnel at strategic locations, and collaborate with local community leaders for seamless coordination.
"Officials were instructed to enhance vigilance, conduct random checks at sensitive locations, and increase security patrols to mitigate any potential threats during the festivals," the spokesman said.
