New Delhi, April 7 In a move aimed at fostering a more inclusive society for the elderly, NGO Vayah Vikas inaugurated its Delhi-NCR Chapter at the India International Centre on Tuesday.
The launch was held under the theme 'Uniting for Senior Empowerment'.
The Bengaluru-based public trust, which focuses on the welfare of senior citizens, described the initiative as a significant step in scaling its chapter-led approach to enhance support networks for senior citizens across regions.
The keynote address was delivered by Bharat Lal, Secretary General and CEO of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), who highlighted the importance of developing inclusive, rights-based frameworks for the elderly.
Gauri Kumar, a former IAS officer and member of the Vayah Vikas board, outlined the vision and future plans for the Delhi-NCR chapter, noting the region's strategic importance.
A panel discussion on "Collaborative Ecosystem for Seniors" was also held, focusing on the importance of partnerships across sectors to address issues such as access to healthcare, legal awareness, digital literacy, and financial security.
"The launch of the Delhi-NCR Chapter is an important step in our mission to create a society where senior citizens are not only cared for, but are also empowered to live with purpose, dignity, and belonging," said Jamuna Ravi, CEO of Vayah Vikas.
The event also featured partnership announcements and the signing of MoUs, underscoring a commitment to institutional collaboration.
