Liverpool, February 24 – Benjamin Sesko scored from the bench once again as Manchester United edged out Everton 1-0 at Hill Dickinson Stadium to secure their fifth victory in six outings under Michael Carrick.
The Slovenian substitute's goal salvaged a point at West Ham United last time out, and he was once again the star of the show, scoring after 71 minutes to settle a close contest at Everton's new home.
Sesko ran onto Bryan Mbeumo's pass and curled the ball past Jordan Pickford, just a quarter of an hour after being introduced by Carrick.
Senne Lammens was a key player at the other end, but the Blues struggled to make a significant impact against the Reds' defense, as we secured our first away clean sheet of the season.
Man Utd remain unbeaten in their second stint under head coach Carrick and move above Chelsea into fourth place, while Everton remain in ninth place.
"Ben is in a good place right now, and we've had some really good talks with him. We're focusing on patience and helping him develop as a player. He's a patient player who understands that he'll be a key player for us for a long time. So, we need to manage that," Carrick said about Sesko.
"We have some really good forward players, and he's made a big difference when he's been on the pitch. But that's obviously a decision we need to make as we move forward. However, the balance with our forward players has been good, so we need to continue that," he added.
