New Delhi, March 19 The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has rejected a plea against the construction of a sewage treatment plant (STP) in Mitraon village, Najafgarh.
The green body was hearing a plea claiming that no public hearing had been conducted for constructing the STP, and there were issues with the acquisition of the land.
In an order dated March 18, a bench of NGT Chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava and expert member Afroz Ahmad said, "We find that the construction of the STP is for proper sewage management and nothing has been pointed out to show that any illegality has been committed in constructing the STP in question."
It said there was nothing to show that a public hearing was needed for constructing an STP, and besides, the issue of acquiring land was beyond the tribunal’s jurisdiction.
"We find that no material has been shown to the tribunal indicating a violation of any environmental norms. Hence, no case for entertaining the present original application (OA) is made out, which is accordingly disposed of," the tribunal said.
