Chandigarh, April 8 An Iranian delegation visited Amritsar on Wednesday and invited the president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and the jathedar of the Akal Takht to a commemoration program for Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a joint attack by the US and Israel.

Speaking to the media in Amritsar, Mohammad Hussein Ziaeenia, a representative of the delegation, said the purpose of the visit was to invite the president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Harjinder Singh Dhami, to the commemoration program, which is scheduled to be held on April 12 at the Iran Cultural House in Delhi.

"We believe that 'the martyred are alive,' and our Supreme Leader was martyred. We also believe in our Sikh brothers, who share this belief. We see that more and more people are becoming familiar with him (Khamenei) and his personality," he said.

"On Sunday, April 12, we will be holding the 40th day commemoration of his martyrdom. We wanted to invite Dhami as the guest of honor," he added.
