The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha today paid tributes to freedom fighters and revolutionaries Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev on the occasion of their Martyrdom Day.

Speaking on the occasion, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that at a very young age, these brave heroes fought valiantly for the freedom of the country and made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. He added that their courage, bravery, and unwavering patriotism laid the foundation for a free and strong India. Birla stated that the immortal story of their bravery continues to inspire the country's youth and the entire nation.

Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan said that on March 23, 1931, the country observes Martyrdom Day in memory of Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar, who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

He said that their unparalleled courage, indomitable spirit, and supreme sacrifice remain a shining chapter in the country's struggle for freedom and continue to evoke deep respect and gratitude from every citizen.

Radhakrishnan stated that their martyrdom was not merely an episode in the history of the country's freedom movement, but it was a defining moment that awakened the conscience of the nation and inspired millions to rise in unity against colonial rule.

The Rajya Sabha Chairman urged everyone to reaffirm their commitment to upholding the constitutional values and democratic principles for which these martyrs stood, and to work together for a strong, inclusive, and progressive India.
