
New Delhi, March 19 Air India's special flight, carrying passengers and crew who were stranded in the Irish town of Shannon, landed in Delhi early Thursday morning.
According to an official, more than 220 passengers were on board, and each was offered 20,000 Indian rupees as a gesture of goodwill.
On Monday, the airline's A350 aircraft, flying from New York to Delhi, was diverted to Shannon due to a technical issue.
The aircraft was grounded, and both passengers and crew were stranded in the Irish town.
The special flight, operated with a Boeing 787 aircraft, had flown from Zurich to Shannon and later took off for Delhi on Wednesday afternoon.
The official said the special flight landed in the national capital on Thursday morning.
Air India said on Monday that flight AI102, operating from New York (JFK) to Delhi, made a precautionary diversion to Shannon, Ireland, following a suspected technical issue.
The airline also stated that the aircraft landed safely at Shannon Airport at 0430 local time, and all passengers and crew were safe.
