JAMMU, FEB 21: In a formal ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Jammu, retired IAS officer Shantmanu was sworn in as the State Election Commissioner for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. He took the oath of office before Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

The event was attended by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, members of the Council of Ministers, and senior police officials.

Speaking to Doordarshan News Jammu after the ceremony, State Election Commissioner Shantmanu described his five-year tenure as both a great responsibility and a significant challenge, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening the democratic process in the Union Territory.
