The Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) results were announced on Tuesday by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE), with an overall pass percentage of 86.84 percent, a slight decrease from last year's 87.10 percent. Gorkha Pathshala Higher Secondary School, Shillong and Seven Set Higher Secondary School, Shillong delivered impressive results, with many of their students securing places in the top 20 merit list. There was a mix of surprise and excitement at Gorkha Pathshala Higher Secondary School on Tuesday, as the institution outperformed several prominent schools in the state to come in first place in the SSLC examination conducted by MBOSE. The school had outstanding results, with three of its students securing positions in the top 20 merit list.

Wangaal Lama emerged as the state topper, securing first place with an impressive 585 marks. Aaditya Thapa secured 7th place with 569 marks, while Sharat Chettri followed closely in 8th place with 568 marks. Reflecting on his achievement, Wangaal Lama said that the school's poor performance the previous year had disappointed the teachers, which strongly motivated him to work harder and bring pride to his school.

Meanwhile, Aaditya Thapa expressed surprise at securing the 7th place, stating that he had not expected such a result as he had not been consistently focused on his studies. Sharat Chettri, who secured the 8th position, shared similar sentiments, saying he had not anticipated the rank but is determined to perform even better in the future.

This was a historic milestone for the school, said Principal Amit Thapa, adding that the success of these three students is particularly significant as the school prepares to commemorate its 150th anniversary.

Meanwhile, Seven Set Higher Secondary School, Shillong, is also one of the leading performers in the SSLC Examination, with three of its students securing positions in the top 20 merit list.

Pajukta Roy led the school with a joint third rank, followed by Nathaniel Mantri Laloo, who secured a shared fourth position. Katherine Amy Nongbet also added to the school’s achievement by attaining the 16th rank.

School Principal Dr G. Nongbri expressed satisfaction with the overall results, noting that, besides the three students who featured in the top 20 merit list, five others were among the highest scorers. She added that all 88 students of the school passed the examination, with several securing distinctions across subjects.
