Beed, Apr 1 The president of the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena's Ahilyanagar district unit has been arrested in connection with an attempted murder case from 2016, police said on Wednesday.
The accused, Babu Subramanyam Kambalat, who has been active in politics, had been listed as "absconding" in police records.
A case had been registered against Kambalat and 11 others at the Ambhora police station in the neighbouring Beed district in 2016 for allegedly assaulting and seriously injuring a labourer working at a wind energy project.
While the remaining 11 suspects were arrested earlier in the attempted murder case, they were acquitted by the court due to lack of evidence.
Acting on information, the Ambhora police arrested the Shiv Sena leader on Tuesday. He was produced in a court in Ashti, which remanded him in police custody for two days, an official said.
