Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, April 6 A 35-year-old Shiv Sena worker was murdered by three men in the city of Nanded in the early hours of Monday, police said.
This is the fifth murder in a public space in the city in the last three days.
According to police, the victim, Sonu Kalyankar, was taking a morning walk around 5:30 am when he was attacked by three men with sharp weapons in the Shreenagar area, an official said.
It appears that the killing may have been carried out at the behest of an inmate in a prison, who had previously fired at Kalyankar and has a dispute with him. Two people have been detained in connection with the attack.
Nanded has witnessed a series of violent incidents in public places in the last three days. Last week, three people died in a clash between two gangs, and one person was killed under the jurisdiction of the Vazirabad police station.
