Lucknow, April 3 Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tributes to Maratha warrior-king, Chhatrapati Shivaji, on his death anniversary on Friday.

In a post on X in Hindi, Adityanath said Shivaji dedicated his life to defending the motherland and restoring the Sanatan culture, and his ideals continue to inspire us all.

"A symbol of indomitable courage, unparalleled valour, and excellent good governance, the founder of 'Hindavi Swaraj', the national leader Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, we pay our heartfelt tributes on his death anniversary," he posted.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said his visionary leadership and unwavering devotion to the nation stand as a living ideal of 'Rashtradharma' (duty towards the nation).

"Paid humble tribute to the founder of 'Hindavi Swaraj' by garlanding his portrait," Maurya said, sharing pictures on X.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, in his post, expressed that Shivaji was the "flag bearer of Sanatan culture" and "the pride of the nation."

Shivaji founded the Maratha kingdom in the 17th century. He was born on February 19, 1630, and died on April 3, 1680 at Raigad.
