March 8, Kohima: Pukiye Shohe from the Sumi Wrestling Association was crowned champion of the 1st Provisional Naga Traditional Wrestling Championship 2026.

Yankithung Shitiri from the Lotha tribe finished second, followed by Lumthsa Sangtam and Jochuhyu Semy from the Rengma, who finished 3rd and 4th respectively.

The champion received a prize of 2 lakh rupees. The championship was held on Friday.

In the Under-15 category, Menuokhriezo Metha from the Angami tribe emerged as the winner. Mudoto Dozo of the Chakhesang wrestling association finished second, while Kütho Puro and Chüre Pohena, both from the Chakhesang, took 3rd and 4th place.

The junior champion received a prize of 1 lakh rupees.
